About us
Ice Walkers – your guide on the way of Ice
Ice Walkers is a small, owner-operated company, specialising in private tours. We work both with individual travellers / independent groups as well as with tour operators providing private tour packages as a glacier portion operator. Working ourselves and cooperating with certified guides we fully trust and know well allows us to aim for the highest quality regarding safety and information provided. It also ensures smooth, direct communication between the company and the guest, making it easy to fit your needs.
We care and it shows.
Our team

Łukasz Białas – The founding father and lead guide
Originally from Poland and always passionate about the outdoors, Łukasz has been a member of the National Mountain Rescue Team for the past 14 years. His Icelandic adventure began with a bang in 2011, when he spent three weeks crossing the Vatnajökull ice cap and northern Iceland in winter.
Since 2017, he has guided snowmobile tours, glacier hikes, ice-climbing trips, and summit ascents. When Iceland wasn’t cold enough, he and a friend set out on bicycles to cross the frozen waters of Lake Baikal. His drive for independence ultimately led him to found Ice Walkers in 2019.
He is certified by Icelandic Association of Mountain Guides (AIMG) on the highest glacier guiding level – Jökla 3, as well as alpine guiding – Fjalla 2. He has an extended first aid training from the Rescue Team.
Karolina Wierzbowska – Our head storyteller and office magician
Whether in the office or out in the field, she always has something to say in one of the seven or so languages she speaks. Her love for the outdoors began with childhood adventures, and her passion for guiding stems from a boundless curiosity about the unknown.
After moving from Poland and having explored Iceland since 2017, she began her guiding career on a Zodiac boat, crossing one of Iceland’s many glacier lagoons, and joined Ice Walkers in 2021. When she’s not leading tours or buried in paperwork, she’s probably walking her cat or exploring yet another corner of the world.
Karolina holds a Jökla 1 certificate from Icelandic Assosiation of Mountain Guides (AIMG), as well as Wilderness First Responder training from NOLS.

Marcin Grzyb – Ice cave specialist and lead guide
Passionate about mountains and climbing as well as travel in general, especially that off the beaten track, he just couldn’t stay at home in Poland. First settled down in Iceland in 2013 and became a tour guide in 2016.
Marcin gained his outdoor guiding experience working for different tour companies in Iceland, but also in Canada and Norway. He found his biggest love in ice cave exploration, which he’s doing successfully already for 10 years. He brought the idea of ice cave tours with him when he joined Ice Walkers Tours in 2023.
He has the highest certificates from Icelandic Association of Mountain Guides (AIMG) in glacier guiding – Jökla 3, as well as in alpine guiding – Fjalla 2. His Wilderness First Responder training comes from american organisation NOLS.
