Dive into the extraordinary beauty of Iceland’s blue glacial wonders with our thrilling Ice Cave Tour in the heart of the magnificent Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier! Embark on a mesmerizing journey where crystal-clear ice formations, tinted with enchanting blue hues, create a surreal underworld, which only exists in winter.

Our expert guides will lead you safely into and through the cave sharing tons of geological facts and helping you capture Instagram-worthy moments surrounded by the otherworldly beauty of blue ice. You will create memories, which will last a lifetime.
All pictures above are up-to-date from this season and show current conditions of the caves visited
Our departure times are chosen to avoid the biggest crowds in the morning and afternoon
We never rush our guests and always keep their satisfaction as our highest priority
        Competitive price
Small company, small groups, big hearts and great service

Our guide will be waiting for you 15 minutes before the departure time at the main carpark of Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon in a modified 4×4 vehicle marked with a sign saying Ice Walkers Tours. From there you set off for a ride towards the glacier, which takes up to 45 minutes.

We always try to visit the best ice cave available at the time, but the choice may vary throughout the winter. On the way the guide will explain to you how the ice caves are made and what the current conditions are, as well as share local knowledge of the area and glaciers.

After reaching the end of the mountain road you will be introduced to the gear used on the tour and from there you will hike for up to half an hour on flat terrain to reach the cave, which is located on the edge of the glacier. On the way there will be plenty of photo opportunities and the guide will explain the impact of the climate change on this glacier. You will then spend up to an hour exploring the ice cave and every interesting part of its surroundings. Your guide will of course help you to take the best pictures and create everlasting memories of this adventure.

The way back will be the same and after 3,5-4,5 hours from the start you will be back at the main car park of Jökulsárlón.

FAQ

What if it’s raining?

In Iceland we have around 200 rainy days per year, so we’ve learned to live with it. Always remember to have your rain gear with you and if you indeed use it during the tour – well, you’re having a real Icelandic experience!

Why is the ice blue?

Well, to know that, you have to join our tour!
