Winter in Iceland. The landscape is totally different than in the summer, especially if you are lucky to visit the island when it is covered with snow and the weather is sunny. There are many attractions you can enjoy during #Icelandic winter, especially in nature. Ice Caves exist mostly in the winter season.

❄️ Let us know if you would like to explore #Icelandic Glacier or Ice Cave.
Ice Walkers specializes at #IceClimbing on a glacier - it is one of the most exciting experiences Iceland has to offer.

Ice Walkers will advise you and organize the unforgettable trip for you.

"Spot the difference"
If you're reading that, it's probably because you are interested to hear the story behind those shots, so, hopefully, you will enjoy it:
The idea is simply to share a bit of my experience over the last months here, working as a glacier guide on one of the most accessible outlet glaciers in Iceland: Sólheimajökull.
It literally takes 15 minutes to walk by yourself from the carpark to enjoy what might be your first encounter with a glacier. Once there, you will find signs (see attached picture in comments) asking you to not to go any further...
Since this "cave" appeared back in October, we, as guides, have been asking people to get out of it pretty much every single day (not counting the multiple times I met geniuses walking ON the glacier without any equipment).
Really, this post is just another post to bring awareness, Iceland (and Nature is general) is not Disneyland, accessible doesn't mean safe. If you happen to be traveling here by yourself, please read the signs, they are your friends and are there for a reason.
About the pictures: the first one was taken on the 11th of November, the second one two days ago, on the 18th of December. Luckily the cave collapsed overnight and no one was there at that time.
Most of the people I've been telling off, have been answering me : "I'm just taking a last picture"...
"A last picture" yeah, sure.. Think about it next time.
Enjoy and respect Mother Nature!
Stay safe out there 🤙🏻
Feel free to share and spread the word.

Reviews

I totally recommend the glacier walk, when visiting Iceland. I expected that the hike would be much more difficult, but Ice Walkers provided  us with the right equipment and our guide made us feel super safe. I love the landscape and surroundings – an ice mountain covered with black volcanic sand!!! It’s like a Walk on a different planet.

Ali

An unforgettable ICE walk on a glacier!

Truly an amazing experience, everyone should see it at least one time in their life !

Great guide, he gives us a lot of interesting information about the glacier and shows magic spots.

Karo

It is a worthwhile experience!

It was the first time I’d been on a glacier and it was a worthwhile experience. We took a private trip to Sólheimajökull glacier. Our guide was encouraging and looked after us well. He shared with us the main facts about the glacier, showed us the great spot and we drank water directly from the glacier!

Nick

Must see once in a lifetime!

My friends booked the glacier tour to Sólheimajökull, I was very sceptical as I am not a fan of hiking… The outdoor tour turned out to be one of the best attractions I visited in Iceland. Great views, interesting facts, good organisation.
